The high-temperature, high-pressure, stainless steel, constant-volume vessel is used to measure laminar flame speed at various temperatures and pressures. The vessel is designed for initial pressures up to 10 atm.
The vessel has an internal diameter of 31.8 cm and an internal length of 28 cm. The vessel has a volume of 25.8 L. The window diameter is 12.7 cm. Flames can be measured from ignition to the edge of the window at near-constant-pressure conditions.
The vessel is fitted with a heating jacket allowing it to be heated to an initial temperature of 423 K. The internal temperature of the vessel is monitored with a K-type thermocouple mounted in the wall. The vessel is also outfitted with a septum which allows liquid fuels to be directly injected via a syringe.
